HYALURONIC ACID - RESTORING A YOUNG APPEARANCE AND FILLING WRINKLES
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in all human tissues, mainly in the skin. It has the ability to bind large amounts of water, regulating tissue hydration. The correct concentration of hyaluronic acid makes the skin well moisturized and firm. In addition, it regulates the inflammatory response, takes part in wound healing and protects cells from free radicals.
With age, the content of natural hyaluronic acid in the skin decreases. Deficiency is manifested by dryness, skin laxity, the appearance of wrinkles and a change in facial volume.
Filling wrinkles with hyaluronic acid
Filling wrinkles with hyaluronic acid is one of the most frequently performed aesthetic medicine procedures, very popular with patients. Filler treatments are used to fill wrinkles, model the face, add volume to the cheeks, enlarge the lips, and improve the face oval. It allows you to achieve an immediate effect of reducing nasolabial folds, smoker's wrinkles, crow's feet or marionette lines, providing a younger look to the entire face.

What does the preparation for the treatment look like?
During the consultation preceding the treatment, the doctor conducts a thorough interview to determine the indications and exclude possible contraindications. The doctor selects the appropriate type of preparation, area and method of administration. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Aspirin should not be taken for 7 days before the visit.
Patients prone to herpes should take oral antiviral treatment before the procedure (and after it).
What does the procedure look like?
The filler in the form of a plastic gel is introduced into the tissues using sharp needles or cannulas. After injection, hyaluronic acid begins to bind water and increases its volume, smoothing wrinkles or enlarging the area subjected to the procedure.
When is the first effect visible?
The first effect is visible immediately, but the full effect can be enjoyed after 2-3 days due to swelling that may persist after the procedure. The administration of hyaluronic acid does not exclude the patient from everyday activities.
Filling wrinkles with hyaluronic acid provides:
- natural wrinkle filling,
- skin rejuvenation,
- improving the face oval,
- stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin,
- densifying and firming the skin.
The effects of wrinkle filling are visible immediately after the filler is administered and, depending on the type of preparation and the patient's skin type and lifestyle, they last from 8 to 16 months.
How long does the effect of the treatment last?
Hyaluronic acid is gradually degraded by the body. The treatment should be repeated after 9-12 months. The disappearance of the filler in the tissues is a beneficial phenomenon and indicates its safety, because the effect of its use is reversible. The time the filler remains in the tissues depends on the age, facial expression, lifestyle of the patient (e.g. smoking cigarettes shortens the effect of the acid), exposure to ultraviolet radiation, the type of product used and the injection site.
What are the post-treatment recommendations?
- avoid fluctuations in ambient temperature, especially for the first 48 hours to 2 weeks after the procedure (sauna, steam bath, solarium, sunbathing, cold chambers (cryochambers))
- immediately after the procedure, the injection sites should be kept particularly clean (do not touch).
- excessive facial expressions should be avoided for 48 hours after the hyaluronic acid injection procedure.
- do not swim or engage in strenuous exercise for 3 days after the hyaluronic acid injection procedure.
- for at least 4 weeks after the hyaluronic acid procedure, procedures such as laser therapy, radio waves, ultrasound should not be performed in the area of the filler injection due to the possible faster degradation of the administered preparation.
- do not drink very hot drinks after the lip augmentation or modeling procedure with a hyaluronic acid-based filler drinks and avoid kissing for the first 24 hours.
